The results are inspiring, but it would be interesting to hear more about what went into those four minutes per day. In the absence of details, it sounds like the approach my fourth grade teacher took - each student performed 100 basic math computations, with a time limit of either two or three minutes. I think we did one set of each (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) each week, and recorded our best performance for completing all 100 correctly. This led to "automatic" retrieval of the basic facts - we didn't need a counting strategy to know that 12 minus 8 is 4 - it was instantaneous. This facility was the foundation for basic numeracy and application at higher grades.
Was the Facts on Fire approach used in this class similar, or was it something different?
I believe this is a true story, and a wonderful one. But the writing feels like AI.
I'd rather a sloppier story that let's me see the teacher.
ai;dr
Ai prose makes this very hard to read, appreciate sharing the story tho

There are 2 version of the Facts on Fire program. The first was created as an intervention. Here is the link to that one. https://brianponcy.wixsite.com/mind/copy-of-mind-facts-on-fire
The above is what I use in my 3rd grade class.
Brian Poncy has also created a Tier 1 program to be used to supplement core curriculum and prevent students from falling behind in their basic math skills. https://brianponcy.wixsite.com/my-site-2/m-i-n-d-2-0-facts-on-fire
